Management Accountant – Client Strategy & Systems

Our purpose is to help small businesses grow - we prepare meaningful financial accounts and improve the financial literacy of business owners
Based in Cairns, you will lead the strategy and systems side of our client work. You turn financial data into management reporting that owners use to make decisions, and you design the app stacks, workflows and AI tools that make their finance function run better - working alongside our accounting, payroll and technology specialists across Australia and the Philippines
Your role
What your day looks like
You will own management reporting and systems strategy for a portfolio of growing businesses. Your job is to explain what the numbers mean - where the margin is, where the cash is going, what the next twelve months could look like - and to redesign the systems and workflows behind them
Management reporting
Build monthly management reports and KPI dashboards in Fathom and Xero, and walk business owners through what they show
Budgets and forecasts
Build budgets, rolling forecasts and cash flow projections, then track performance against them and flag where the business is drifting
Cost and pricing strategy
Analyse costs, job and product margins, and pricing, so owners know which work makes money and where to focus
App stack integration
Assess each client's finance systems, select the right Xero apps, and lead their integration so data flows cleanly into reporting
Financial workflow mapping
Map finance workflows end to end, find the bottlenecks and control gaps, and redesign processes that scale with the business
AI tool implementation
Identify where AI tools can improve accuracy and insight, implement them, and set the guardrails for how they are used

Experience
What you bring
- a bachelor degree in accounting or commerce
- CPA or CA qualified, or well on the way
- 3+ years in management or commercial accounting, ideally with small and medium businesses
- advanced Xero and Fathom skills, and experience integrating finance apps
