Invite Digit as an Advisor to Xero

We need access to your Xero organisation to have a look under the hood. Xero now calls the adviser role Administrator, so that is the one to pick. Here is how to invite us in

How to invite us

7 simple steps

Click on your organisation name, then go to Settings

Under General, click Users

You need the edit users permission to invite anyone. Administrators and whoever pays the Xero subscription have it already. Standard users need it switched on first

Click New user

Enter our details

First name: Digit. Last name: Business. Email: xero@digit.business

Under Role, choose Administrator

This is the role Xero used to call Adviser. It gives us the access we need to reconcile, run reports and fix things properly, and payroll access comes with it. If we are lodging your Business Activity Statement (BAS), click Tax in the list on the left and check the Activity Statements permission is switched on. Administrators normally have it, but it is worth a look before you send

Click Send invite

We will accept it, usually within the hour. Xero invites expire after 14 days, so if you have not heard from us, send us a nudge and we will sort it out

Common questions about Adding Digit as an Advisor

Has Xero removed the Adviser role?

No, it has been renamed. What Xero used to call Adviser is now called Administrator, and it carries the same full access to your organisation. If you invited us in under the old name, nothing has moved. Existing users kept the access they already had.

What can Digit see with the Administrator role?

Everything in your organisation. Bank accounts and reconciliation, invoices and bills, contacts, fixed assets, payroll, all reports, manual journals, lock dates and settings. It is the level of access a bookkeeper needs to fix things properly rather than only look at them.

Do I have to give Digit Administrator access?

No. You can invite us as a Standard user instead and switch on only the permissions you are comfortable with. It does mean some jobs take longer or need you to step in, so we will tell you if something we need has been left off.

Who in my business can send the invite?

Anyone with the edit users permission. Administrators and whoever pays the Xero subscription have it automatically. A Standard user needs it switched on first by someone who already has it.

How long does a Xero invite last?

Fourteen days. We usually accept within the hour, but if an invite does expire you can resend it from Settings, then Users, by clicking our name and choosing Resend invite.
