We believe business is a force for good - and the way we choose to spend money is one of the most direct expressions of that belief

Digit is a certified B Corp. We've made a public commitment to high standards of social and environmental performance, and we recognise that those standards don't stop at our own front door. The businesses we buy from shape our impact too. This Code sets out what we expect of the suppliers we work with, and how we choose them

Who this applies to

This Code applies to all suppliers providing goods or services to Digit, with particular focus on our significant suppliers - those representing the top 80% of our annual supplier spend

What we expect of our suppliers

People and labour

We expect our suppliers to -

  • comply with all applicable employment laws, including minimum wage, working hours, and leave entitlements
  • provide safe and healthy working conditions
  • treat workers with dignity and respect, free from harassment, discrimination, or abuse
  • respect workers' rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining
  • prohibit forced labour, modern slavery, and child labour in any form throughout their operations and supply chain
  • pay workers fairly and on time

Environment

We expect our suppliers to -

  • comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations
  • manage and reduce their environmental impact where they reasonably can, including energy use, waste, and emissions
  • be transparent about material environmental risks in their operations
  • support our own environmental commitments where their products or services contribute to them - sustainable materials, energy-efficient equipment, certified recycling, and similar

Ethics and integrity

We expect our suppliers to -

  • conduct business honestly and with integrity
  • prohibit bribery, corruption, and facilitation payments in any form
  • disclose actual or potential conflicts of interest
  • comply with applicable competition, tax, and trade laws
  • respect confidentiality and protect any data, information, or systems they handle on our behalf

Community

We prefer to work with suppliers who -

  • are local, independent small businesses, particularly those in the communities where our offices are located
  • are owned or led by people from underrepresented groups, including women, First Nations people, and regional Australians
  • are themselves customers of Digit, as a way of supporting the businesses we serve
  • are certified B Corps or hold equivalent third-party certifications for social or environmental performance

How we work together

We see our suppliers as partners. That means -

  • we pay our bills on time and according to agreed terms
  • we communicate clearly and respectfully, and expect the same in return
  • we raise concerns directly with suppliers and give them a reasonable opportunity to respond and improve before changing the engagement
  • we welcome suppliers raising concerns with us, including anything that conflicts with this Code

Raising concerns

Anyone - a supplier, an employee, a customer, or a member of the public - can raise a concern about a possible breach of this Code by emailing hello@digit.business. Concerns will be reviewed by Digit's leadership team, and suppliers acting in good faith to raise a concern will not face retaliation

How we hold ourselves accountable

A policy is only as useful as the practice behind it. We commit to -

  • tracking the percentage of supplier spend going to local, independent, and underrepresented-group-owned businesses
  • conducting an annual review of compliance with this Code, with results shared with our leadership team and our team where appropriate
  • working with suppliers who fall short of these expectations to address the gap - and ending engagements where that's not possible

A living document

This is version 1 of our Supplier Code of Conduct. We've deliberately scoped it to commitments we can deliver and evidence today, rather than aspirational language we'd struggle to back up. Over time we expect this Code to deepen as our practices mature and our reporting improves

If you're a supplier, customer, or community member with feedback on this Code, we'd genuinely like to hear it. Email us at hello@digit.business
